G.D.Naidu Industrial Exhibition Coimbatore in Coimbatore


G.D. Naidu Industrial Exhibition: G.D. Naidu rose from a poor level to the owner of so many busses. He was a great thinker and a hard worker. This industrial exhibition was established by himself. Whatever he contributed to that of automobile, electronics, mechanical industries and agricultural sectors are preserved here.


Lord Shiva: This temple is located on the Coimbatore-Tiruppur Road, 5 Kms from Avinashi, in Thirumurgan Poondi.
This ancient temple was built in the 9th Century. According to epic, this was the place where 'Lord Muruga' installed a 'Siva Lingam' and worshipped. 'Lord Muruga' was sent with an army headed by Veerabahu by Lord Shiva to rescue Gods who were troubled by Soorapadma and his accomplice.It is believed that 'Lord Muruga' installed 'Lingam' to absolve Himself Lord Shiva in Coimbatore of mortal sin of mass killing.

Sundaramurthynayanar when on a pilgrimage to the holy shrines of 'Lord Shiva' in Kongunadu was way-laid by a hunter who robbed him of all his belongings and disappeared into the temple. Notwithstanding, Sundaramurthynayanar composed and sung expressing his sorrow and anguish and went on to say that it was a mockery that 'Lord Shiva's presence was in a notorious place.

But then it was 'Lord Shiva' Himself who was disguised as a hunter and He did so to hear the melodies and compositions of the saint. Pleased with the poignancy of the compositions the Lord returned of all his belongings. On understanding the divine purpose of the Lord, Sundaramurthynayanar composed and sung ten songs. This incident was marked as a festival called 'Vedapuri'.

Great sages 'Agasthya','Markendeya' and 'Dhurvasa' worshipped the Lord enshrined here. It is believed that saint 'Durvasa' planted Madhavi tree brought from heaven here.

Marudhamalai Temple: Marudhamalai Temple located on a hillock is 12 kms from the Coimbatore railway station. This temple is dedicated to Lord Subramanian. Marudhamalai Murugan Temple is one of the most visited temples in the region, the reason being that the residing deity Dandayuthapani is believed to have performed several miracles here.
